Pep AI ("Pep AI," "we," "us," or "our") is a collaboration platform that helps people create shared spaces around topics, links, videos, documents, ideas, and projects.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Pep AI website, web app, browser extension, and related services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, information created through collaboration, and technical information needed to operate Pep AI.

  • Account information, such as name, email address, authentication details, profile settings, interests, goals, preferred language, and collaboration preferences.
  • Collaboration content, such as spaces, groups, topics, chat messages, notes, tasks, links, diagrams, boards, comments, AI prompts, AI responses, session summaries, and other activity you choose to create or share.
  • Link and page context, such as URL, canonical URL, page title, site name, page description, image metadata, YouTube video ID, and timestamps when you create or join a group around shared material.
  • Browser extension data, such as the current page URL, page title, metadata, hostname, video ID, and video timestamp when you interact with the Pep AI extension.
  • Usage and device information, such as IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, timestamps, error logs, feature activity, and session data.
  • Communications, such as messages you send to us for support, feedback, waitlists, invitations, or product questions.

2. How We Use Information

  • Create, authenticate, and manage your account.
  • Provide spaces, groups, topics, chat, notes, tasks, links, boards, diagrams, group memory, browser extension features, and AI collaboration tools.
  • Match users with relevant public groups or collaborators when discovery is enabled.
  • Generate summaries, explanations, task suggestions, study plans, diagrams, and follow-up prompts based on context you provide.
  • Send authentication, invite, notification, service, and support emails.
  • Improve product performance, reliability, safety, usability, and feature quality.
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to misuse, spam, unauthorized access, abuse, security incidents, and legal requirements.

3. AI Features

Pep AI may use AI models to generate summaries, explanations, study plans, task suggestions, diagrams, collaboration prompts, and other outputs. AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation, so you are responsible for reviewing them before relying on them.

If third-party AI providers are used, relevant prompts, context, and responses may be processed by those providers only as needed to deliver the requested feature. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Public And Private Content

Public groups, public profiles, public activity signals, and public group metadata may be discoverable by other users. Private groups and private spaces are intended only for authorized members, invitees, or approved participants.

You are responsible for choosing the correct visibility settings and for making sure you have permission to share any information, link, document, video, or other material you add to Pep AI.

5. Cookies And Local Storage

Pep AI may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, security, analytics, and product functionality. The browser extension may store configuration values such as the Pep AI API URL, web app URL, optional OAuth client ID, and authentication token locally on your device.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information.

  • With service providers that help us host, secure, analyze, support, and operate Pep AI.
  • With email, authentication, database, hosting, analytics, and AI infrastructure providers as needed to provide the service.
  • With other users when you intentionally share content in a group, space, invitation, public profile, or public activity surface.
  • With legal authorities if required by law or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or prevent abuse.
  • With a successor or affiliate in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to continued privacy obligations.

7. Data Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide Pep AI, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, and improve the service.

You may request deletion of your account or certain data by contacting us. Some information may remain in backups, logs, legal records, or shared group content where removal would affect other users' collaboration history.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information, including access controls, encrypted transport where supported, secure authentication practices, and monitoring for misuse.

No online service can guarantee complete security. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials safe and notifying us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

9. Your Choices And Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information.

You may update your profile, disable discovery where available, leave groups, delete certain content, or contact us for privacy requests.

10. Children And Students

Pep AI is not intended for children under 13. If you are under the age of majority in your location, you may use Pep AI only with appropriate parent, guardian, school, or institutional consent.

If an educational institution uses Pep AI with students, additional agreements or data protection terms may be required.

11. International Data Processing

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. We take reasonable steps to protect information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

12. Third-Party Services

Pep AI may link to or integrate with third-party services such as Google, YouTube, GitHub, Figma, document tools, calendar tools, AI providers, analytics providers, and hosting providers. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own policies.

13. Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we may notify you by email, in-product notice, or by updating the effective date. Continued use of Pep AI after changes means you accept the updated policy.
